The Scream in the Bathroom

I'm frustrated as heck...after Mom kills the boyfriend in the bathroom a large man comes in and screams in a very unusual way....this scream sounds very familiar.....Please it's driving us nuts!

That scream has been used many times in many different movies, television and commericals. I know exactly how you feel. I can answer one for you. It was in a cereal commerical in Australia, Iron man events often have that scream as well.
Sorry thats all I can do.

They also used that same scream in Another Stakeout, Mary Reily, and Ahhh! Real Monsters! Very infamous during the mid '90s.

First time I heard this scream I think was in the computer game Dark Forces from LucasArts. It was played if you fell from great height.

I believe its called the 'wilhelm scream'. it is also in lord of the rings: the two towers.

You can see a medley of films the scream has been in here:

You can here the scream alone here:

Because of your posts about the wilhelm scream, I watched serial mom on DVD last night out of curiosity. The scream in the bathroom is definitely NOT the wihelm scream, but it does sound almost exactly like the scream in the opening credits to AHHH! Real Monsters. Just shows that you can't always believe everything you read on the internet! =)

Hey that scream is definetly off the start of some song, i'm racking my head here, anyone else know it.

I didn't recognize the scream but I thought it was HIL-ARE-I-OUS! To think that a big brut man has himself comes into the bathroom to see a dead body and just screams like a little girl. Too Funny!LOL. This movie is so funny and it's because of little factors like this. The maker just kind of poke fun at the seriousnous of things. By the way, I heard that this is based on a true story, anyone know where I could find the facts?

reply

In the spirit of John Waters...

All of the facts related to the true story on which this movie is based have been hidden in a dark, rarely explored place: uranus!

reply

I am not really willing to say how many times mine has been explored, but its hardly rare!

Hey dude who posted link to the "wilhelm scream" that is not the scream that is used in the bathroom scene. Man I recognise the wilhelm scream every time I hear it, I have ears for sound effects :P seriously, find this other scream sound, I like it. It's used when you press a certain building in starcraft when u are playing with terran or whatever the human team is called.

I know that scream. I love that scream and it has been used in many, many films just like the wilhelm scream. One of my favorite uses (one of the only i can remember off the top of my head) is Howie Long in the film "Broken Arrow" with Travolta and Slater. He gets kicked out of the train car while they're passing a bridge and falls hundreds of feet, the whole time he's belting out the same scream donned by that gentleman in the antique trader's bathroom. Watch enough B-Action movies and your bound to come across it several more times.

Enjoy.

It's called the Nutri Grain scream

Check it out.

Yes that's definitely it! How did it get the name "Nutri-Grain"?

reply

I noticed this scream long ago when I was watching a couple of these movies in theatres ha. Now it's all come back to me!
The exact scream is also in the movie "Face/Off" with Nicolas Cage and John Travolta. I really forget what scene, watch the movie for it. In fact, I know John Woo used this scream in a few of his movies. The director of "Broken Arrow", which also stars John Travolta. Go Figure.
What a message to put up on a board!

Dang, it sounds so familiar but I can't place it. Definitely not the Wilhelm Scream though. Like most people who are into movies I would know that one anywhere. I'm pretty sure I've heard it in a video game somewhere but I'm not sure where. If anybody finds out for sure please post.

reply

They already posted it you idiot.

reply

It's known as The Howie Scream.

Mystery finally solved! Now if someone could only track down where it originally came from, the earliest it's tracked back to is The Ninth Configuration back from 1980.
