They were so fabulous together. Under his direction she gave the best performance of her career (that I've seen), and she carried his movie to heights of terror and comedy that he's never topped since.
So why didn't they work together again?
I know her health has limited her ability to work in recent years, but couldn't she make the trip to Baltimore for a cameo or something?
John Waters did approach Kathleen Turner to star in Cecil B. Demented...but she declined. Melanie Griffith did it instead. Not sure for her reasons...be it health or otherwise.

I believe that,turner herself and costars has revealed she was a nightmare to work with at times
I never heard that Kathleen was asked to do "Cecil B. Demented". If that's true, she was wrong to turn it down.
I know she was offered "Basic Instinct" and turned it down. (I think she made the right decision in this case.)
I have always wondered why Waters and Turner never teamed up again. He always uses the same actors over and over again, so there must be a story behind why this was their only movie together.
Hm, I don't know. Post-Hairspray, the "big" stars rarely get recycled - Amy Locane, Johnny Depp, Kathleen Turner, Edward Furlong, Christina Ricci, Melanie Griffith etc didn't appear in the movies he made after either.
The ones he tends to recycle, besides the original Dreamlanders, are those who are a bit quirky and not necesseraly traditional actors like Ricki Lake, Traci Lords and Patricia Hearst.
