What did the daughter say?

What a great movie, but the accent was a little thick sometimes, and I really had trouble knowing what people said when their heads were turned.

Does anyone know what the daughter said to her mother (the selkie) as the mother was on the beach surrounded by all her children? She then gave the baby to the daughter who had spoken to her, and left the beach.

From context it was obviously something about the skin, but I couldn't decipher it...anyone know?

I don't remember the exact phrasing, but it was basically, "Why does father keep a leather coat hidden in the roof?"

I watched it last night with the closed-captioning on, and the movie finally made sense to me! I've always liked it but had trouble discerning some of the words. Yes, she asks why the father keeps a leather coat hidden in the roof.

The accents were way too thick, and lines simply recited without feeling, it became laughable after awhile, way over the top with the accents!
Funny though.

honestly thats how my family from donegal speak i dont think its over the top

And I'm sure back then people had far greater accents, before television and movies have helped to slowly kill them off.

I often wonder about the trolls that come on to bash wonderful movies- are they simply stupid, do they only like movies filled with sex, profanity and explosions, do the just like bashing good movies as vandals love to destroy things of beauty or are they actually fans of the movie and they're just trying to get reactions out of people to praise it?

who has done this? Please point me to the jerks.

I live in small town, WA state USA and we had no trouble understanding what was said. I loved the accents.

I watched this movie during class, and I had trouble hearing sometimes, too. For example, until I came here, I thought the kid's name was "Jimmy", not "Jamie. Oops.

Considering it's Tadgh telling the story you don't hear the girl's voice, which would be spoken in Irish anyway. If you were following along with the Irish spoken I apologize & commend you at the same time. 
