So Neil and Charlie's mom stopped believing in Santa

because they didn't get exactly what they wanted?

My parents told me "Santa can't and won't always get you exactly what you want for Christmas, but you shouldn't stop believing and still be thankful for what you do get."

reply

They kind of stopped considerably too easily. I take it as the first time they stopped getting what they wanted and misunderstood Christmas is not about what YOU get.

One of them stopped believing at three.

It's that man again!!

That's the thing I never got either. As a kid, one year a neighbor dressed up as Santa and came to our Christmas Eve party, there's still a picture in the album of me wide eyed when he came through the door. He gave me a Barney coloring book and a set of crayons, nothing that I'd asked for, nothing that I'd have the presence of mind to actually want, didn't matter, even at 4-5 years old I knew our presents came from our parents, but I also believed in Santa Claus, and he came to our house, that was all that mattered to me. I can't really explain it, but for me it was enough just to believe that he was real, didn't matter that he never brought us anything. So even as a kid it struck me as a dumb idea to stop believing in Santa just because you didn't get what you wanted.

That's the thing with some people, they can act kinda greedy in a way and if they don't get what they want, they get all miserable and upset about it

reply

In a way it's kind of like the people that bitch and moan 'oh life isn't perfect, therefore there's no God', sorry, nobody ever said that's the way it would work.
