I like shota... and I don't know, I tend to like the immature uke like Goku. I would check out 53 from time to time. I know there's a whole damn lot of PWP fics of the two... I never actually read a fic with real 53 plot goodness before... I think.
shareI dunno. There's some Reload eps and even a few GS moments that seem to capture 53 so well (like 3 commenting on 5's heritage, some moments in the clones ep in Reload, 5 figuring out 3's past). Then again, you could say that for all of them really.
I just find this pairing the most interesting. I guess cause they're both really stubborn and the whole picking on each other's complexities/personailty clash thing creates an intriguing sort of tension between them, and it kinda makes it dynamic. 58 is more sorta calmy and understandy, much like 83, and from time to time I do read those, but 53 interaction is turbulent and has a bit more... I don't know, edge? And I find that fanfiction about the two stays in character quite well. (or maybe I'm just more perverted than I think?!)I think they have quite a lot in common than the other pairings...
I COULD ramble on for some time, but I still have yet to prove I actually have a life so... :D

Lol, same here. None of my friends tend to think outside the box. I can see a lot of people loving 53, and I like their interactions as you say, are two complex beings. Plus, I can never usually see Sanzo as a seme in hardly any relationship except for Goku because his attitude just screams uke most of the time, despite not having the same "uke-ness" of Goku. Hakkai and Sanzo seem good but I don't tend to read so many fics on them than Hakkai and Goku.
I would consider 53 as a favorite pairing of mine if I manage to find a good fic. I only found some, it's pretty rare since people can't dig deep enough with their characters and at times, ff.net just kills any pairing... sigh.
And well, I only like Hakkai and Goku since I very often have such a soft spot for a seme!Hakkai, being all protective and dearing towards Goku. Goku was also spontaneous with his feelings with Hakkai, hugging him like the usual spunky uke but we'd probably never see him hug Sanzo in such a way because he respects Sanzo that much (in my opinion). And the doujinshi for these two are just so adorable, in my opinion, lol. Hope that makes sense as well, haha.

Yeah, there are a couple of good writers out there but ff.net just drowns it all! mediaminer.org is a bit better- but I suppose the best fics come from the communities (partly cause you don't have to search so long for all those hidden gems!) ff.net is really quite orientated around 39 and 58 though, so it is quite hard to spot the rare 53 or the even rarer 89!
But is it just me, but doesnt the pairing 59 really bother you? I mean, it'd probably be all uke but still... I could only really see them as brothers or in a platonic relationship, what do you think? And Sanzo/Harkuryu...Well, thats just...odd, really?!
Also.. I have personally never purchased 53 doujinshis but let's just say that from what I've seen, they're all pretty much...the same really, when it comes to (explicit) content! :S! In a way it's strikes up as bit annoying for me that most people just see them in a strictly NC-17 relationship though...

Mediaminder.org scares me sometimes and takes a while to load on my computer *pouts*. And I agree, lj communities tend to have the most well-written fics, even though you'd spot a few bad eggs, but they aren't much of a problem.
59 gives me an almost incentuous vibe as brothers and I get a bit disturbed in those type of relationships (Angel Sanctuary gives me a bad vibe but I love the anime, nonetheless). Maybe if they're half-brothers... Hmm, lol.
Sanzo/Hakuryuu is just... ahh. Hakuryuu may be a youkai like Goku, Gojyo, and Hakkai... but I wouldn't even bother. It's like seeing a dog--... Err, nevermind. Sanzo/Hakuryuu's already disturbing...
I agree with 53 doujinshi. I've read summaries and they always tend to have a hurt-comfort relationship with no plot. Unless one-sided love is your cup of tea, with a little... force (where Gojyo actually forced himself on Sanzo because of being turned down... sigh). I guess doujinshi can be jaded most of the time (unless you like pretty drawings *__* )
My favorite pairing is Gojyo and Hakkai and even *cough* Hakkai and Hakkuryu... I'm one sick bastard. ^.^

Y'all are sick- yaoi is barely a step away from child porn in some cases if you ask me, and equally offensive. It would be one thing if it only ever involved adult characters, but some people take it WAY too far. Drawings or not- it is still f#$%ed up.

My favorite pairing is Hakkai x Goku. I know that Goku may look like a 10 year old boy [even thought he's supposed to be 18 :S] but in the manga when he's shirtless he looks older but a bit desproporcionated (sp?) But, ehm, I think Hakkai is so gentle that he would be such a nice lover for everyone, like a father and a mother [well, parents don't do lemon stuff with their sons, but i'm just giving my opinion] Like Hakkai would support/comfort him when it's snowing so he doesn't get upset.
But almost every doujinshi which features Goku are Shota and Goku looks even younger than in the anime =__=
When Gojyo is in the pairing [never seen him as uke <___< ] it's mainly NonConsensual [NC-17] stuff, except when his partner is Hakkai. So I think I'd be scared to read a 59 doujin >__<
Oh, and what do you think about 93 doujins? [Goku = seme / Sanzo = uke] Don't you think these ones are... kinda.... ridiculous? Goku almost looks like a "ero saru", worse than Gojyo; and Sanzo, who is a way taller than Goku...

Aha, got the first rotten tomato! Knew it had to happen sometime ;) All I have to say to that is that I don't think it's sick, even though I have to admit that I have long since grown out of the whole yaoi pairings phase(sorry guys!) and have only come to visit the board now since December. Seeing as it's a predominantly male show with hardly any bits of romance, people are going to want to assume that something is going on between characters to make the show more interesting for themselves. It's just a matter of imagination.
Anyway, I don't know, I just can't really see Goku in a relationship with anyone. I just think he's too... young, and really really innocent. Like ghostintheshell commented about adults, you know? And to me Goku just isn't adult at all?
I could see him as a stirrer when other pairings are involved, definitely, but I can only really see Hakkai and him in a strictly affectionate, platonic realtionship, maybe almost mother-hen on Hak's behalf. And even though 95 tends to be the most worshipped and revered pairing above all I really can't see it happening!! I just can't! It's almost like incest!! And I have NEVER tried even glancing in the direction of a doujin based on them!

Despite all the shounen-ai undertones... I really don't think any of them are interested in each other that way. I think they're all just really good friends and quite comfortable with each other. This is coming from a girl who usually LOVES slashing up the characters and what not... but when it comes to Saiyuki I just can't seem to picture the boys going any further than friendship.
That and I favor the Hakkai/Yaone pairing quite a bit. They're just so cute together in my opinion. Their personalities are pretty similiar and there are a few times they show some interest in each other. Just something about them that makes me like the idea of them two together.

I'm not a yaoi fan...at all...so...that's about as far as it goes lol.
I can read and enjoy any fanfic as long it is well written, so I don't really care about pairings, even though I'd never read a Hakkai/Hakuryuu. It's just too sick. But I have read several awesome yaoi/shonoen-ai stroies and I have come across A LOT of bad ones, and the same goes for non-yaoi fics. The only thing I can't read are stories with an OC as the main character...
But anyway, I do like the 3/9 pairing...
