Lol I reacted to that as well. Maybe Martin Sheen was thirsty :D I wonder if it was in the script.

He's known to do improvised and crazy stuff sometimes though. Like the scene in the beginning of 'Apocalypse Now' where goes completely bananas was not scripted, and completely improvised. Also he was really drunk for real in that scene, or so it says in the trivia.
