Does anyone know the name of or words to the song that is whistled over the opening credits and reappears several times during the film? It is also sung at the wedding reception early in the film. The only word I can make out is canto.

From what I can make out, the song is called "Se Canto," which is an anthem in the Occitan language. I can't find what the lyrics mean, but you can find them at Wikipedia, and some other sites.

It actually sounds quite similar to the American folksong Clementine. The monophonic (whistling!) version in the film sounds more minor key than the MIDI arrangement linked from Wikipedia.
