I'm looking for other films which include impressive scenery like "River Wild".

There are so many:

• Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey (http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt0107131/)
• Stand By Me (http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt0092005/) This movie was also filmed in Oregon.
• The Lord of the Rings movies. All filmed in New Zealand. Some magnificent shots of the country.

Out of Africa is amazing

in the end i cry more at the fact Meryl's character has to leave this beautiful country than at the love story plot.

You should definitely watch DELIVERANCE. 4 mates canoe-ing down the Chatooga river come into a spot of trouble with hillbillies. Amazing, yet harrowing. Brilliant performances and the cinematography is intense. A true classic.

Legends of the Fall has some pretty decent scenery. So does "A River Runs Through It."

Though the movie sucks, "Eragon" has some really interesting scenery... a lot of it

Last of the Mohicans has some spectacular shots of Appalacia.

"The Mission" with Deniro has the best scenery of any movie I've seen. It's Iguazu falls and the mix of scenery with the fantastic MOrricone score is breathtaking.

"Last of the Mohicans" takes place in the White Mountains of New Hampshire and northern New York. From north to south, Appalachia runs through southern NY, PA, OH, MD, WV, VA, TN, KY, NC, SC, GA, AL, MS.

I'm not going to bother to take the time to go check, but even though I believe the setting for Last of the Mohicans was the White Mountains, it was mostly filmed in western North Carolina.

My personal recommnedation is "Last of the Mohicans". If there's a non-CGI movie out there which has better cinematography of nature/forests/trees, I ain't seen it yet!

i've always loved the scenery in "The Eiger Sanction"...Clint Eastwood plays an art professor (and assassin) who's also a mountain climber...it was made pre-CGI days (1975)...and--while it's not quite Clint's absolute best film performance--it does contain some really spectacular footage of the Alps...and the Southwest US...

Definitely check out Northfork, Mother Lode, Brokeback Mountain, and Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death.
