40 years old?!

Isabelle Adjani, the lady who played Margot was nearly 40 years old when she filmed this! She doesn't look a day over 20! That's amazing to me...

ha! definitely a vampire... (i know this is really old, but i just found it.)

reply

I was shocked as well, I had no idea that she was twice the age
of the role she was playing.

Amazing.

reply

Wow, I only just saw that she was 40 when she shot this movie. Truley unbelievable!! She honestly looks about 25... You've gotta wonder what her secret is...

reply

Totally weird! And there was no botox in 1994!!!

She definately looks only around 21, 22 in that movie. I couldn't believe she was forty when she shot it, she could pass for 19! It's amazing. I wonder how on earth she keeps her skin so clear (well all right she's wearing make up, but no make up is ever THAT good, I mean make up can't hide wrinkles that well).

Really scary actually, I wanna know her secret...

reply

Mrs. Adjani's secret? I'm afraid it breaks down to great "maquillage" (make up)and "lumière" (lighting")+ her, one has to admit, natural beauty.

Great movie and Adjani is perfect in her role.

reply

ISABELLE IS A GREAT NATURAL BEAUTY BUT YOU ARE RIGHT - THE MAKE UP SAVES HER. BUT DON'T LETS BEGRUDGE HER THIS MOST FILM STARS ARE CAKED IN IT - I NKNOW HAVING SEEN A FEW NEAR WHER I LIVE, IN PARTICULAR THE MEN - EWAN MCGREGOR ET AL

reply

Botox used in 1994 for cosmetic reasons..as a matter of fact..Botox has been tested and used since 1980s.

I AGREE, HTE FILM IS SENSATIONAL, ONE OF MY FAVOURITES. AND ISABELLE DOES LOOK STUNNING - AND ACTS WITH HER HEART. I ADORE HER AND THE FILM.

reply

Also, at that time, she's already a mother of a teenage boy.

reply

Isabelle has always had this amazing skin, always, and yes, the makeup helps of course, but some people age gracefully.

But let's not forget the great, one of the greatest, actress she is...

Great film, great cast, great directing, etc.

I would not say she is a "great" actress. She's a good actress who's also a great beauty. (Perhaps her impact is stronger if one speaks French, though?)

reply

Anyway, in the sixteenth century, a woman of twenty years roughly equated a contemporary fourty-year-old woman...

yeah, you're probably right.

reply

Makeup can only do so much - for a forty year old to play a twenty year old so convincingly takes great genes - and an almost obsessive avoidance of the sun - both of which Isabelle Adjani possesses.

I've also heard that Ms. Adjani has a special parasol she uses between takes on outdoor shots that covers her almost completely.

Any dermatologist can tell you that most of the aging you see on the average forty year old is premature and due to the sun.

reply

That's nothing.

Billie Burke who played the Glinda, the Good Witch in the Wizard of Oz, was 55 years old.

wow - she looks amazing, too...

reply

I agree with everyone here. I thought she was below 25 in this film.

If she dosen't smoke, that could also be a factor.

Yeah I noticed that as well. I just saw Herzog's Nosferatu and she looks almost identical, like if she were shooting both movies at the same time. Incredible.

Makeup and a healthy life (plus a possible plastic surgery) can do wonders. Isabelle looks incredibly beautiful in this movie.

Isabelle Adjani is truly beautiful as well as talented. A lot of comments have been made about her having had plastic surgery before this film, however I disagree. Natural good looks, not too much sun and great cinematography and well applied natural make up gave her that flawless complexion. Many of the actresses / actors in this film also have that 'air brushed' look - proving it to be the filming /lighting and not surgery.

However recent you tube footage shows that she has since had some treatment. In my opinion unnecessarily. Natural ageing would have done her no injustice, she possesse a timeless beauty that age cannot take away just like other European actresses.

I was about to express my astonishment as well at Isabelle's appearance given her age in this film, but i've obviously been beaten to it.
