Isabelle Adjani = Plastic?

I'm really surprised that people compliment her on her looks. I couldn't get over the fact that her face looks like the recipient of excessive plastic surgery. She looks completely unnatural, like a piece of plastic. I watched Bon Voyage recently as well, and she looked exactly the same, and again, just like plastic.

In earlier films (say, L'histoire d'Adèle H.) she looks more natural, so this isn't a question of someone being born with that surgery "look".

Why has no one else brought this up?

Please don't say she's all natural. There's NO WAY! Look at her young and then look at her older. Her later nose looks two steps away from Michael Jackson's.

I did like the movie, though, but watched without subtitles, so I didn't get every line, being French Canadian and not French from France(plus the Italian accents didn't help much.). Y NOUS accusent de mal prononcer, esti!

She can. Her artificial look was due to pounds of face powder (as usual in the 16th century). And I think she's always had a tendency to look pale.

I agree with akmarzik. Look at portraits from that time.

according to Werner Herzog, Issabella is very paranoid about her looks…..

reply

Yes, the "pourcelained" her face, as was common in the XVI Century.

I haven't seen her recently, but Queen Margot was pre-botox - Adjani's ability to play such a young woman was due to her staying out of the sun.

Have anyone really seen this movie? From tge messagges I suppose nobody. Isabelle is always the same, always beautiful. In this movie in particular she looks like as she was in Herzog's Nosferatu.
Ond another though: when she played this movie she was still young, over ten years ago, she was only 39 years old, why everyone thinks that she is made of plastic? I don't understand...and about the nose, it is always the same.

Rigth, I agree with adreataxinari.

I am in my late 30s and don't exactly look like an old hag yet. Look at other actresses out there who are 39 - most are still quite young looking when they are in their 30s, jeeezzzz...

Isabelle Adjani= beautiful

I was shocked when i saw how old she was in this movie, i was sure that she must have been in her twenties, I am never going into the sun again.

reply

I thought she actually looked better than in any other movie I´ve seen her in (well, One Deadly Summer comes very close).

Isabelle Adjani has never looked more beautiful than she does in this film; she is simply stunning.
