Haha patience is a virtue ;o)

Love it myself, however some people get higher mileage from broad American comedies, a genre I can not stand.

I thought it was visually stunning and brilliantly acted but the story was nearly incomprehensible. There were too many characters (most of which were under-developed); the St. Bartholomew's day Massacre scene seemed to come out of nowhere only to be forgotten about straight away; the scenes in Holland were confusing; and the story seemed to drift and meander from one scene to the next.

I Thought the connection between La Mole and Margot was interesting, especially how Margot had unwittingly doomed her lover from the start - after all he became distracted by her, leading to thieves stealing his possessions, which in turn led to him selling the hunting book which would lead to his downfall - but everything else seemed to be filler. It just seemed that most of the story involved La Mole being swept up into Margot's arms through a series of bizarre deus ex machina events (the massacre etc). Nothing really seemed to indicate why Margot loved him so much over all her previous lovers. For me at least, everything seems so random.

I probably need to watch this again to understand what's going on properly, but I won't do that in the near future as it's a very heavy going film - the type you can only watch once every few years.

I've seen far more boring films but I was very disappointed with this movie after being so excited to see a movie about the French Wars of Religion.

I know it is a historical film but did it really need to drag and take so long to get to the point?

I really enjoyed the lead performances from Adjani and Auteil though.

I suffer from insomnia. And still this movie didn't put me to sleep as I watch it at three o'clock at night. Either my insomnia is too strong or the movie not too bad.
