Alternate ending

Anyone know the alternate ending to this movie?? I saw on entertainment tonight back in 93 or 94 they showed Judy Davis and Raymond J Barry in the same scene. Raymond j Barry had a gun in the scene and was trying to arrest Learys character and Davis was trying to stop him.

Anyone got any info about this????

A society that wages war against its' police, better learn to be friends with its' criminals.

It would have absolutely sucked and not gone with the flow of the rest of the movie is "Gussy" had gone to jail. After all the close calls and all the help, inadvertently yes, but he still saved their marriage and made Lloyd open his eyes to his mother's bitchiness.

Thsi is one of my all time favourites, and the ending is absolutely perfect.

Forget love-I'd rather fall in chocolate.

Interesting. I agree with the consensus that that ending wouldn't have fit the film at all. The whole point of it, the point of it being called "The Ref", etc., is that Denis Leary's character does become the therapist they need--and not just them, but for other family members, too. To have someone like that incarcerated at Christmas wouldn't have worked well, in my opinion.

I sure am glad they changed the ending to what it is now, I like it better. I heard the director later stated he regretted making the change but I'm glad he did.
