Has anyone else seen the Nostalgia Chick's review of this?

I think her assessment of this film (which is nearly 20 years old at this point) was right on the money. I loved her loud and bold statement of "EVERYTHING IS WORSE NOW!" And her breakdown of the ludicrously outdated plot and her disgust at the fact that the two characters who were shoved to the background (Vicky and Sammy) were the ones more deserving of praise and respect and should have been the main focus of the movie's story. As opposed to the two who got the majority of the screentime and dialogue, Troy and Lelaina. As NChick put it, they really were two truly terrible people. Loathesome and selfish, they were pretentious sanctimonious scumbags who seemed to have no clue how the real world actually operated. The fact that "Laney" steals money from her father (which the movie actually portrays in a humorous fashion at it's conclusion) and that Troy is just floating blissfully through life, passive and unmotivated, and lacking any kind of drive or ambition. He is proud of the fact that he's been fired from 17 jobs and sees no point in ever working again. And he's in a band, doncha know. Food, clothing and shelter just drops right down in his lap, he doesn't actually have to work for any of it. He's THAT kind of early-mid 90s grungehead douchedork who has no respect or compassion for others and looks down on anyone he feels is, as the cliches go, "a tool for the MAN" or "wage-slaved by the World Corporation". And in hindsight, and considering the state of the world now, I neither condone his attitude or respect Troy as a character. And NChick was basically saying all of that as well, except she did it in a really funny and attractive way. And I recommend to check it out on either the Blip or Chez Apocalyse sites. Thank you for your time.

I agree with everything Lindsay said about these characters. Nasty bastards, except perhaps for Sam.

It was more of a half-ass rant than a movie review, besides how old she herself? What perspective did she have in 1994? Also, I noticed that she turned off the commentary! Wuss
