Out of curiosity : Who's seen it in theaters ?

I watched RAPA NUI in autumn of 1994 when it came out on the theaters. RAPA NUI received slight distribution. I had to drive to a small theater in downtown Seattle. It was not shown on the major theater chains. Goes to show the politics and monopolistic stranglehold of those who control what movies get shown in what theater chains.

I remember that I truly liked watching RAPA NUI. It's ending was not a fully happy one. It was actually tragic with but a small saving grace. The Easter Islanders ate Mother Nature out of house and home (an environmental lesson for everyone)and then turned on each other. Had Nomo - the winner of the Birdman Contest - been allowed more time, it appears he would have righted the wrongs and injustices of the degenerate social system destroying Easter Island. But it was too late. The civil war broke out the night of his victory.

I recall the critics weren't that pleased with RAPA NUI. But then, who can understand why critics like some movies and detest others, that everyone else completely disagrees with.
