Things I noticed about Pumpkinhead 2...

1) The beginning scene was actually pretty brutal.

2) I had no sympathy for the teenagers who summoned Pumpkinhead. First off, they hit an old lady with their car, broken into the old lady's little shack in the woods, stole some cursed blood, and Danny punched her, which eventually led to her getting seriously burned. So really, there were no heroes when it came to the group of teens. After everything they had done, I was basically cheering on Pumpkinhead. lol

3) I know Danny was supposed to be the cool tough guy in the group. But seriously, who goes into some random shack in the woods, stumbles upon a bunch of black magic stuff, finds a vile of cursed blood, and is like..."let's dig up and summon whatever is out in that ritualistic looking field". I mean, seriously, come on! How exactly did Danny reach such a dumb and vague conclusion? And better yet, I can't believe the entire group went along with it. Danny was trippin. lol

4) How is turning off your car lights while speeding down a road fun? I mean, if there's something significant about that, than I'd like to know. That just seemed dangerous and life threatening. But then again, I guess that's supposed to symbolize some form of teenage angst (reckless behavior). But still...

5) The mayor is told that some sort of mysterious murderous creature is on the loose. And he was like, "dead or alive I want it!" LOL

6) I know Pumpkinhead is basically the star of the movie (in a way). But really, Pumpkinhead just isn't that scary. I mean, don't get me wrong, if I woke and Pumpkinhead was standing over me, I would still be terrified. But all in all, for the movie's sake, it wasn't scary. Pumpkinhead seems like he (or she / whatever) would be too slow and obvious to be scary. I mean, how would you not see Pumpkinhead coming?

7) Was it just me? Or was the old lady like the scariest part of the movie? lol

I remember seeing this on TV, before having seen the first film. I loved it then, but I haven't watched it recently. I'm going to watch it now and get back to you.

I just rewatched this last night, I thought it was great fun! Totally agree about the brutality of the opening scene, rather shocking. Also really liked how unappealing the teens were simply so that rooting for PH wasn't conflicting at all. Old lady was scary but I found PH effectively scary enough. Some of the music choices made it darkly comedic at times. Overall I loved it, and it may be my favorite entry in the series.

I thought the first Pumpkinhead was good too. But something about the sequel was pretty memorable. Even though the group of teens were unlikable, and even though Pumpkinhead wasn't that scary (in my opinion)...it was still enjoyable to watch. The sequel is without a doubt my favorite Pumpkinhead film.

Yeah this is the one I watch when I want Pumpkinhead. I just watched Pumpkinhead Ashes to Ashes and it was not nearly as watchable.
