Final catwalk/ Concentration Camp comparison

I have heard there is an interview with the writer (Barbara Shulgasser, I assume) saying that for the final nude catwalk scene she was inspired by the image of inmates being liberated from concentration camps after WWII. Has anyone heard of or come across this interview before? I would really appreciate a reference.

Many fashion models, especially the ones in the mid-90s were so skinny they looked like the people from concentration camps in Life magazine pictures.

reply

No they didn't. Not even close.

Liberated concentration camp inmates weren't nude. Someone is talking out of his/her ***...

Hmmm?

That´s a worthy parallel. Unfortunately Altman was either unwilling or unable to hit home harder on this particular topic. Would have made for a more relevant, meaningful film.

And it´s strange to realize, watching these almost creepily skinny broads make their way down that stage, that the two best looking women in the film are Sophia Loren and Anouk Aimee. The former 60 years old and the latter 62.

"Creepily skinny"?

They looked fine and fit to me.
