Michael Ironside is soooo underrated
I got this movie on sale as a cheap-o VHS release (in this age of DVDs). Luckily I still have the VCR hooked up. I got it because of Michael Ironside, which didn't lull me into any kind of idea that this was going to be a good movie.
Ironside is a hugely underrated actor. He has participated in some pretty stinky pieces of work, however (something that can be said about just about all actors, I guess). I was a bit worried this would be one of them, as I'd never heard of it before.
I was pleasantly surprised - the production values are pretty strong, the performances are uniformly good, and the pace of the film moves along quite nicely. The story is a good one, although a little hackneyed as far as mystery/thrillers go. This one has enough twists and turns to keep you entertained and guessing. The dialogue is, with a few exceptions, pretty good, and the characterizations are done with a good amount of depth. The subplots running through this story help flesh it out a little.
Take a chance, watch Probable Cause.
