Very powerful movie...

This is an excellently written, directed and performed movie. Linus Roache and Tom Wilkinson were phenomenal. I can't give Roache enough praise for his final scene.
Of course, hard core religious people are going to have a fit about this movie. The idea of accepting homosexuals is beyond their capability and the idea of questioning one's religious doctrines is unthinkable for some people. It's just too scary for some people to think for themselves and too easy for them to feel as though they are better than someone who feels differently from themself.
I read the comments by Rodarnott and was totally surprised at Roger Ebert's reaction to the movie. I didn't see Ebert's review so I am getting info second hand. I am one of the people who defended Ebert's decision to vote for Crash. When many gays were saying he was homophobic I was saying that that wasn't necessarily his motivation for picking Crash over BBM.
If Rodarnott's account of Ebert's comments is correct than I will have to agree that Ebert is a homophobe and is therefore incapable of giving objective reviews about movies that deal with homosexuality.
This movie is powerful and very moving and I am so glad I watched it.

Actually its overrated jibbrish and uttelry ocntirved, but, the followign segment is why you really like it.

Of course, hard core religious people are going to have a fit about this movie.

You happen to be a hypocritical religiosu bigot. Apparently, you have no respect for other poitns of view, and , in addiiton, you lump all rleigiosu people into a singel category, and pour hatred towards them. All legitimised of coruse buy your claimign them to be closed minded and evil fools.

The idea of accepting homosexuals is beyond their capability

Not really. And there are two main problems with htis statement. The firts being that many rleigiosu beople ar epro-gay, there ar eeven openly gay clergy now. Do you relaly think that no rleigiosu eprson is pro-gay?

Secondly, there are peopel who oppose Homosexuality who are nonetheless capable of loving individuals hwho happen to be Homosexual. CLiaming this seems to indicate otherwise, and hsows a lack of ability on yor part to udnerstand why they hold the posiutisn the do, an dinstead you make it a simple matter of them beign closed minded and bigoted to justify your own hatred of thm.

and the idea of questioning one's religious doctrines is unthinkable for some people.

THis statement is base don what, exaclty? Do you ever queasiton your own views? Do you try to udnerstand others? Form this post, I gather not.

It's just too scary for some people to think for themselves and too easy for them to feel as though they are better than someone who feels differently from themself.

This sentence matches you perfeclty, I'm afraid. Its also a lazy claim to say that folsk who are rleigious can't think for themselves, and harldy accurate.

Basiclaly if Ebert doens't like a movie, thathappens to deal with Homosexuality, then he's a Homophobe.Sort of like how religiosu poel can thtink for themselves or accept Homosexuality which shoudl be accepted, ebcause you said so.

Actually Ebert was right abouhtis film, it as tedious, boring, and overwrought nonsence. It was essentally an attack on he Cahtolic Church, wtith nohign to shore it up. No oen woudl feel that sympathetic to Greg if he where a man attracted to women and haing an affair with a woman who hated his rleigion, and dispised everythgin eh stood for. No one woudl care, and the romance woidl be dull.

Likewise, the caracaturisaiton of Cahtolsiism, and the flat protrayals, and his inability to use basic logic when in temrs o the child abuse he did nothign, all relaly don't speak well fo Greg at all.
Saying all of this doens't make anyoen a Homophobe, tough, and even the term "Homophobe" is an oversued excuse these days.

This movie is powerful and very moving and I am so glad I watched it.

I sicne that its only pwoerful ebcause you agree withthe general sentiment that rleigion is evil, espeiclaly Cristianity, and Homosexuality is good. But the movi isn't relaly anythign pecial,a nd is in fact deeply marred by its preahciness and overblown story.

Please use spell check; I couldn't understand half of what you said.

To help you understand (it is evident that you didn't): The movie looks at the archaic practices and beliefs of the Roman Catholic Church. Two of the main ideas cover celibacy of Catholic Priest and the homosexual policy.

I am an agnostic and I don't think that religion is evil. My personal belief is to each their own. Homosexuality is not good and it is not bad; it goes back to each persons preference. There are homosexuals and there are heterosexuals; get over it.

As for the attack on the original poster, you OBVIOUSLY are either Roman Catholic or very traditional Christian who has a limited view of the world. Most people are constantly in touch with their spiritual beliefs. Your staunch, antiquated views have no place in this religious discussion.

To sum up your post I will use a quote from your post: "tedious, boring, and overwrought nonsence."

Have a great day!
