Not Nominated As Best Foreign Film!
An outrage! Of all the films I've seen from 1995, my favorite was "The Postman," from Italy. Foreign film nominations are made by each individual country, and the Italian committee passed over "The Postman" because its director--Michael Radford--is British. This despite the fact that one of the guiding spirits behind the film was an Italian, Massimo Troisi, who co-wrote the script and starred as the postman.
