I really wish that the original Spanish-language film ARDIENTE PACIENCIA (1983), directed by the writer of the novel Antonio Skármeta, was as famous as IL POSTINO is. I found it to be so much more atmospheric. It also seems to me a far more truthful film in terms of politics and eroticism.
shareUnfortunately this film never made it to VHS nor DVD according to IMDB. I'd like to view it and decide for myself if indeed it is better than ll Postino.

If the movie is more faithful to the book, then I much prefer the Italian version. The ending was more powerful and ironic.
