Il Postino A Cinema Masterpiece

The work of Michael Radford combined with the amazing writing power of Antonio Skarmeta' and the dramatic last performance by one of the greatest actors of all time Massimo Troisi makes Il Postino one of the best movies of my generation. I have barely reached the adulthood age of 18 and can safely say that this movie brings a nostalgia to me that few movies have made me felt. Every time I watch this movie I am entrapped in the subtle beauty of the relationship Mario and Pablo Neruda have in this film and can relate to their relationship on many levels. This is one for the ages and it would be a shame to miss out on such a marvelous work of art like "Il Postino".

I never saw Massimo Troisi in a film until I saw Il Postino. His interpretation really touched me. So I went to see his filmography and saw that he died in 1994, the same year of the film, with just 41 years. What a pity :-( But I'll try to see other movies of him. Just it... Bye...
PS: Sorry my bad english!

I bought this movie and it's so beautiful, with such wonderful acting that I want to cry. All the actors did beautifully, with the aunt playing a great comedy/protective mother role.

it is total genius. And I agree such a shame that the amazing actor died at the end of production. Flawless film. One of the greatest ever made.

I couldn't agree with you more. I was engulfed by this film the first time i saw it. The acting, cinematography, writing....it was all there. mario's love is something we need more of today. My heart broke when Mario died. He was just about to read his poem. He didn't even get to see his son. Only days away....

and just hours after the camera stopped.

12 years later I've come to be 27 and I have seen literally thousands of movies. Il postino still remains one of the 5 most beautiful movies I have ever seen and will ever see in my life. It is the movie that introduced me to poetry and has conquered me ever since.
