This guy had some decent 80s flicks on his resume. Why did this turn out so crappy?

That's an interesting observation. Of course, much of the success of Moving and Back to School can probably be attributed to the charismatic leads. Back to School, especially, seems to have been tailor-made for Rodney Dangerfield.
