How did they even get him to agree to be in this garbage?

I thought it was him throughout the duration of the movie, but I still had this feeling like "Nah, couldn't be him because there is no way he'd agree to be in this". Yet, there he was.

He probably did it as a favour to producer Paul Maslansky, with whom he'd worked on several films prior, including Night of the Living Dead (1964), Death Line (1973) & Circle of Iron (1978).
