Wow, hard to believe nobody has posted on this movie. I heard for years that it was bad, not as funny as "Plan 9", but it has nothing whatsoever to do with any Ed Wood movie. I saw Ruben and Ed so I wanted to see this film. I thought all the stuff with Karen Black in outer space was really funny. This is kind of an "anti-Mormon" movie but I think even Mormons would enjoy it.

Will there ever be a DVD? Probly not.

I just watched it. Very kooky and strange film.
Mormonism doesn't need this film because it's pretty kooky as it is! :)
Aliens are just the next logical step in their story anyway given
that they believe when they die they will rule over a planet
somewhere.

I don't think the film is either pro or anti mormon, it's just trying to evoke
what it sees as a natural outgrowth of Mormon beliefs.

Actually, I was just at Ken Sanders Rare Books in downtown SLC and you can buy the DVD for Plan 10 there. I guess Trent had a Plan 10 DVD release party there last fall.

I loved this movie. I can see how anyone not familiar with early Mormon teachings and the LDS church probably wouldn't get all of the jokes. Being a Mormon-turned-atheist who has read about the Danites etc., I was rolling on the ground watching this movie.

Hey, glad to see other people are seeing this movie. Glad to hear it's on DVD now too, I'll keep an eye out for it. I wish they would release "Ruben & Ed' that is the greatest movie ever.

I got this last year for my birthday, and loved it! I had read a book called "Early Mormonism and the magic world view", and the movie nailed it! I laughed the whole way through, but my wife, raised Presbyterian, did not really find it funny. I lent it to a friend, and he and his wife hated it. Oh well. I hear Trent's other movies are good, I will definitely be on the lookout for them.

Loved the short film on the special features as well...

Thanks all; maybe you have to have some acquaintance with Mormonism to get a lot of the jokes. I had some Mormon neighbors and their son was my best friend for a few years when I was growing up.

The DVD must be an unofficial release or very small numbers because it's never shown up on netflix. Still looking for it though.

I don't have any opinions on Mormons but I remember watching this on VHS and thinking it was a cute little indie comedy. I'm sorry it's not on dvd for the nettyflix.
