An enjoyable mid-90s dramedy

The weird thing is, until I looked up Ron Howard's filmography a few days ago, I had never even heard of this movie. Despite Howard at the helm, and a stacked cast including Michael Keaton, Robert Duvall, Glenn Close, Marisa Tormei and Randy Quaid, this one seems to have just fallen through the cracks of history.

I enjoyed it, though. It's an interesting little look at newspapers as they were in the early-to-mid 90s, has some funny moments, and has a plot that remains interesting until the end. It's ultimately a movie about journalistic ethics, something that our media outlets today could learn a thing or two about.

I wonder why this film isn't remembered that well.

Watched it again the other day. Some good comedy, Duvall killed it with his bit on columnists (no real spoilers):

“I hate columnists! Why do I have all these columnists? I got political columnists, guest columnists, celebrity columnists...the only thing I don’t have is a dead columnist!....we reek of opinions...you know what every columnist at this paper needs to do is to SHUT THE FUCK UP!”
