Best Ron Howard Film !!!

Hi there,

Most of you won't agree, but i do think it's the best ron howard film. I love the increasing rithm of the movie along with the interrelation beetween all the roles and their perfectly controlled crazyness. It's exagerated, it's neurotic, it's messy, it's yelly, it's frenetic,it's crazy, but all it's pieces are perfectly fit together and it never gets out of control.
Perfectly planned camera movements while all the roles move up and down.

As a former daily newspaper editor and a desktop publisher, I think this is the most accurate film I've ever seen. Sure, they took some artistic liberties (isn't that what cinema is all about). But in all the technology, and all the wonderful richness of detail, they really did their homework. The Silicon Graphics workstation, the photo assignment process, the interplay between rival journalists, the press operations, the newsroom goings-on -- wow! I though I was reliving my life but with a plot. Michael Heavener

Have to disagree. most realistic journalism movie is definately Shattered Glass.

I don't think so, and I love Shattered Glass...really it's comparing two different sections in journalism: I think The Paper is a more accurate depiction of the chaos and interraction of a daily paper, while Shattered Glass gets into the ethics of journalism, along with what goes on in a weekly magazine. And, I do agree that this is Ron's best movie, and I love many of his other films, I just think this is a masterpiece as far as rhythm, dialogue, performances and story.

I don't know if it's his best, but it's certainly MY favorite LOL

Agreed. I'm not really much of a Ron Howard fan, but ironically I think his best movie seems to get the least amount of attention. And it's weird because look at how fantastic the cast is! But no, people instead get all worked up over EdTV or whatever instead.

I agree, a great movie. A slight OT question: what was the name of the movie the two youngsters were watching when they were arrested? Thanks. jim

I think "Apollo 13" is Howard's best film but this is pretty good too ... much better than I was expecting.

"Everything is safe till it goes wrong" - Joe Simpson, "Touching the Void" - book only.

Pretty good, but Apollo 13 blows it away.
