Okay, Melissa comes home, and she hears Johnny and Cammie talking. Johnny is saying "touch it" Cammie says no, it's gross. Then Melissa runs in the room, but is relieved when she sees they were talking about turtles. Did you notice that she was thinking something of a sexual nature was going on?

I believe Johny was asking Cammie if she wanted to touch the turtle..but Melissa not knowing about the turtles, could have thought Johnie wanted Cammie to touch him in a sexualy disturbing way.
I believe that's why Melissa ran in to be relieved to think it was not what she thought Johny meant.
Johny may be crazy, but I don't think he is sexual pervert.

That scene made me laugh at Melissa's reaction, and at her face when she saw they were just turtles.
