Okay. Seriously.. I need some help.

I know you guys have probably mentioned some books that are in the movie.
We're watching this movie in class right now (So we'll read more or something.) and for one part of the assigment [sp?].. our teacher is making us write down ALL the books from the movie that are mentioned. We're not done. So far I have "2000 Leagues Under The Sea" and "Moby Dick". Do you think you can name some for me? It'd help so much.

~Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
~Alice's Adventures in Wonderland
~The Raven (well that's more of a short story than a book. It's the part where they go into Jekyll's house and a raven flies down and screeches "Nevermore")
~Treasure Island
~Jack and the Beanstalk

The Shining - Its not obvious but if you look close in the horror scenes you will see it on the book shelf.
Ghost stories
Jack and the Bean stock
Alice in Wonderland
Dr Jekel/Mr. Hyde
Mobey Dick
Treasure Island
2000 Leagues under the Sea
The Raven- a poem by Edgar Allen Poe

There are also several you can see on the shelfs at certain points in the movie, others besides the ones mentioned above are:
Arabian Nights
Oliver
David Copperfield -this one made me laugh
The Land of Oz
Peter Pan

Such a wonderful movie, I'm glad that you have a teacher that is cool enough to show this movie to encourage reading. If I were an English teacher this would be one of the things I would do.

at the end of the movie during the dragon scene, he lifts a large book up off his shoulders and you see the book is "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand. Now being much older than when i first saw the movie, I definately had a little chuckle at this.

Did no-one remember Hound of the Baskervilles when Richard, Adventure and Fantasy first make it into the land of Horror running away from it? I read the book once and couldn't put it down.

Ok so I still don't understand wether or not she/he is talking about the books that they actually say or books that are shown. Because I'm watching it right now on the computer and there is A LOT more than just what you all have said.

A few off hand are:
The Shining
The Haunting
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow
Frankenstein
The Exorsist
The Other??? (I think that's what it says, it's kind of hard to read)
Salems Lot
---There is something about Davy Jones but I don't know what he's from besides Pirates

reply

Davy Jones isn't always a specific person. In Treasure Island they just call it Davy Jones's Locker. Pirates of the Carribbean just made it a real person for story purposes or based it off some legend

I just watched the movie today, and my sisters and I did not know what "Atlas Shrugged" was, but I laughed at the fact that he shrugged it off. Also: "Kidnapped" (by Robert Louis Stevenson and is laying next to me on my bed) and various Sherlock Holmes stories.

On one Gravestone in the Horror world outside of the haunted house it says Jacob Marley and on another gravestone it says Dracula. I noticed the Jacob Marley one as a kid but just noticed the Dracula one last year when I was watching it.
