I would love to see this remade.

I found the movie on DVD in a $3.79 bin at Walmart and, remembering how much I loved watching it on VHS when I was a kid, I bought it. I watched it recently and, being a bibliophile, I loved the concept to this movie and the idea of getting swept into a world of literary classics. Even though I was shocked at the negative and browbeating criticism towards the movie, I do agree in one aspect. The animation, even though 2D animation was really all there was before Toy Story made its world premiere, was, I felt, a little clunky and too cartoonish for a motion picture. At times it felt like I was watching a zany Saturday morning cartoon. And some of the caricatures were a little too cute and friendly. For example, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde are supposed to be very frightening and in this, Mr. Hyde looks like a goblin from a kid friendly Halloween special.

I know it'll probably never happen, but I think this movie could really use a reboot. With the motion capture technology that is offered in Hollywood, I think it could really bring David Kirschner's vision to life. I mean, imagine the imagery for scenes like Moby Dick's attack and the dragon fight. Also, I notice in the book and for the trailer, Frankenstein's monster was intended to be used but was omitted. It could not only be brought back, but made into a frightenly epic scene.

What do you guys think?
