Did anyone notice a connection to the Blues Brothers?

I'm watching the Blues Brothers and I realized that there might be a connection to the movie in PCU. In PCU, Tom pisses off a few different groups of people on campus, and he leads them all back to the Pit where George Clinton is performing and they're trying to raise money to save it.

In the Blues Brothers, they're trying to raise money to save an orphanage and along the way they piss off a few different groups of people (the Cops, the Nazis, Bob & the Good 'Ol Boys, Carrie Fisher) who chase them throughout the movie and it all ends at their gig where they eventually raise they money they need.

Maybe it was or wasn't intentional but I thought the possible connection was interesting.
