This movie's representation of stoners.

Has anybody on this cast or crew actually smoked weed before? In this movie, they make the stoners out to be total morons that look like they had just done four hits of acid rather than smoke pot. At one point in the movie, Jon Favreau's character smokes one bong hit which sends him into a seemingly five hour freak out. They must be smoking stuff with angel dust in it or something.

I agree. Favreau is horribly miscast, as is Jeremy Piven. I have no desire to party with these d-bags.

I don't think the Jerrytown guys were supposed to just be stoners. Considering their dog is named Blotter, I'm assuming they were also into psychedelics. As for Gutter, he didn't just take 1 hit. According to Mersh's "testimony" in the dream he smoked "two major bong loads". Who knows how much that is, depends on the size of the bowl, but since he called them major, I'm assuming they weren't snap bowls. So he probably took a handful of hits. And his freak out wasn't all that far-fetched, some people can't handle the herb. The silliest bits were part of his dream, had he been on a trip where he was lucid and thought all of that was happening, then yeah it would have been over-the-top. But weed can give you some weird dreams.

Though I very much disagree with you, I must tell you your "Meathead" avatar is the greatest thing I've ever seen!

Thank you sir. You're one of the few people I've talked to who actually knew what it was straight away. I've had a bunch of people ask me what it was, a few who thought it looked familiar but couldn't put their finger on it, and one who asked me why I had a "retarded guy" for my avatar. But which part do you disagree with? I mean, I agree they were kind of stereotypical with their stoner types (all the different groups in this movie were stereotypes basically), I just didn't find it far-fetched in terms of drug use. Assuming the Jerrytown guys were on something besides weed that is. At least they didn't smoke weed and gain the gift of flight or turn into a lizard, like in Half Baked and Nice Dreams respectively.

It's a comedy. It's played for laughs.

What I thought was funny about that scene was a bit of subtle humor when Gutter comes in and says "I've been trying to call for hours, what's the deal?" Then they just laugh without really answering him. It seemed like they may have pegged Gutter as kind of a buffoon and enjoyed making sport of him at Jerrytown. When Mersh says "Dude, aren't you a music major?" the whole house breaks up into laughter.
