Jeremy Piven is cast as a senior, who are usually 21-22 years old. He looks way too old to be playing someone that age. He was around 30 at the time and looked every bit of 30. When I was a Sr in college there was a 30 year old student and he looked ancient in our young eyes.

He's in one of the photos in the first hallway of the house, form IIRC 1985. He's just been there forever.
shareDroz said that he was a student for 7 years. Piven was about 27 when the movies was filmed so it isn't that far off. He does look really old even for mid 20s but he actually was in his mid 20s.

I started college when I was thirty-six and graduated when I was forty, and I was by no means alone in my age group. Whether or not a thirty-year-old looks ancient in the eyes of a kid just out of high school, there are plenty of them going to colleges everywhere.
