Watched once a long time ago and again recently

I saw this movie on VHS a bout the time it originally came out, and then again recently. When I first saw it the effects were on par with what was available at the time, these days it looks like the kind of quality that one might expect from one of those third party low budget film productions. The story is fantastic and could really be done well with todays technological advances in effects. I for one would like to see this movie remade as a theatrical release.

Parker Stevenson was great as Paul Corliss, but Erin Gray as his wife was not very believable at all. Her acting was stiff and appeared forced which is unusual for her. She looks uncomfortable in the role. Dirk Benedict has all the mannerisms of his old Starbuck role from Battlestar Galactica, but does not seem to pull off the bad guy persona. Chad Everett is the most experienced actor in the cast and even his performance is stilted.

Erin Grey sure aged well, she was 43 (my age) when this was filmed and every bit as lovely as she was in Buck Rogers.

Was it a coincidence that Dirk Benedict (Starbuck from Battlestar Galactica) was in this as a villain? Buck Rogers and Battlestar were filmed about the same time and the 2 shows were in heavy competition with each other.

She aged way better than him (though to be fair she was a few years younger but only a few). She had all of her beauty but he was not as handsome as he had been about fifteen years earlier when he was in Battlestar.

Maybe its all the cigars he smoked? Thats very unhealthy? I suspect if his characters on A Team and Battlestar were always smoking then the actor too was a smoker, though I cannot know this with certainty.
