anyone else find this a little..er..bald? ***spoilers ***

I enjoyed this film, mainly because of Karyo. I have only seen him in one or two films, but, he's one of my favourite actors. There's a certain gravitas in his delivery that is so compelling.

As for the Nostradamus film, I thought it was a bit bald.

As a period piece it was faultless and the acting is solid, it's just the bio or story itself seemed to be missing something. I was expecting it to delve deeper into his writings & prophecies. Which it didn't really. Only fleetingly referencing them now and again, using them almost as a link to the next part of his biog.

Maybe I had higher expectations because of what I had heard prior to the film about Nostradamus and his predictions. There are a few references to herbs, spices and an "I don't know" when asked what they were, which suggested a drug overtone to his "visions"...was it halleucigenics they were taking?

Perhaps I half expecting a documentary style biopic rather than just a period piece.

Anyone else seeing any other Nostradamus films that delve deeper into his prophecies & such?

Perhaps you meant to say that the movie was a little too ribald.
In other words, risque, with nude scenes and sex depicted graphically,
except that it was in deeply moving personal relationships between
Michel and his lovers, which since this is a European movie, gives it
a freshness and depth of passion not seen in American films.
Nostradamus was a genius, a prophet, a doctor, a scientist, and an
astrologer, perhaps in that order.
This movie was incredibly prophetic in showing something like the 9-11
disaster in New York City in the opening sequence, which is remarkable
since the movie was made in 1993, around the time the World Trade Center
Tower was bombed by Islamic terrorists.

I thought about the twin towers too when I saw the begining of the movie...
As for bald I don't agree, the movie is ok, they tried to cover all his life as much as they could they rushed it a bit in some places, but if there were to add another parts with detailes about his prophecies they would end up doing a serial not just one movie. Maybe it is a good idea for a serial to get deep into his prophecies.

Yes, if you want to delve deeper into Nostradamus' prophecies in his book "The Centuries", first published in 1556, and then reprinted by him in 1565 shortly before his death in an updated and amended, expanded second edition, I highly recommend the books by Erica Cheetham and John Hogue, and the series on the History Channel titled "Nostradamus" and "Nostradamus 2012", and the excellent expose documentary on his son's book (Cesar de Nostredame) "The Lost Book of Nostradamus".
