R.I.P. Abe Vigoda

He played the grandfather in the Alaska scene.

It's funny but when the news broke about the death of Abe Vigoda, the FIRST thing that came into my mind was NOT Fish (from Barney Miller), or Sal Tessio (the Godfather), but the old Alaskan Grandfather in NORTH!!!!!!!

My first thought were about that old Caucasian Eskimo in the winter coat being sent off on an iceberg to die! While other old eskimos had tv sets and couches on their icebergs, North's granddad only had a tiny stool to sit on!!
(By the way, Roger Ebert was particularly unimpressed with the iceberg scene, and made his feelings *very* clear in a rather scathing review on the Siskel/Ebert TV show).

I bet ol' Abe is now a-floatin' on his own iceberg in the sky!

Same here.
I wonder how he felt doing that scene. I've had a feeling it deeply affected him.
Anyway,
R.I.P.

He died?! He seemed like a person that would live forever. He has always played characters that are known for being old, so he seemed invincible.

Here's a younger pic of him.
