Wild Strawberries

I feel like I just noticed the similarities between this and the Bergman film from 1957.

They both involve an old misanthrope who revisits his past, is forced to reconcile with his family, and lives with an elderly female who he has a banterous relationship with. Both films end in almost the exact same way.

Has anyone else noticed this?
