Why the hell did those guys bungie jump at the dance?!

This was one of the most pointless, confusing, and out of place things I've ever seen in a movie.

reply

I couldn't agree more. My gal and I were dumbfounded as we watched this scene. That was the stupidest, most contrived thing I'd ever seen in a film. They must have had something else in mind that got lost in the editing.

reply

They did that to gain honor from Colonal Dugan. Col. Dugan was a great leader throughout this movie and everyone respected such Kingness!

reply

hahahahah this is so true. what was the point of that!

reply

They could have at least mentioned something about it before they did it. It leaves the audience confused as *beep* when we have three dudes bungie jumping out of no where at a school dance and within seconds we are supposed to feel upset with one of them getting injured in doing so.

When you start directing movies, let me know! Best script ever.

reply

For me the most confusing part of the movie was why this group existed in the first place? To police the lily white, ultra safe high school, where apparently a girl skipping class to listen to music was public enemy number one. For a 9 year old watching this, I actually thought that high schools had groups like this.

Sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here.

reply

The idea that a former military officer could run a paramilitary group in a high school is absurd. It's also funny to watch him kick the crap out of several of the members right in front of the school. I guess the school has a lot of money for lawsuits.

reply

It's amazing to me that a school board would approve of such a group to exist and on school grounds. They might as well have called it "Col. Dugan's After School Fight Club".

Haha, so true!

You'd think everyone at the dance would have been like, "Why are Ned and his buddies chilling up there in the rafters?"

senior prank...duh

reply

That assumes no one looked up during the entire dance before the prank...

haha.

Were they even concealed in any way?

They would had to have gotten there hours before anyone else was there to not be seen getting up there.

reply

Great job, Ned, looks like you broke your buddy's arm!

Oh yeah? Well at least he was brave enough to try it. So why don't you just mind your own business?

???? Mind your own business? The guy broke his ARM. And the guy did a piss poor job of first aid safety. "You okay?" "Yeah."

Wow, amazing scene lol.

I think the bungee scene was just to show that these guys were EXTREME. You know the 90's. As if karate wasn't extreme enough, they needed bungee jumping from the rafters.

reply

Haha, yeah I think you're right about them trying too hard to throw some X-treme into this flick. The unnecessary car explosion at the end is another example. Unless they were planning on murdering Eric, Julie and Miyagi, how did they even expect to get away with blowing up a whole *beep* car?! The bungie and the car seemed to be thrown in there just so they could meet their X-treme quota for the film.

The guys trying to prove they are X-treme is ok, but how stupid and pointless is to do that in THAT way at a dance. My God, I have never seen something so pointless in a movie!

And the whole idea of the gang is totally forced. It seems like they were thinking "We have to throw some bad guys somewhere but where?". LOL

Looking back on it now, I am laughing my a** off just thinking about it. It was absolutely ridiculous. Not having seen it in awhile, when I watched it earlier, I seriously thought it was a terrorist attack of some sort. When I realized what was happening, I was laughing uncontrollably. If someone would have done that at my senior prom, after the feeling of shock wore off, I would have laughed hysterically.

Seth Cohen: I'm allergic, and there's so much pollen in here right now. It's ridiculous.

reply

It was to set up the whole thing where Eric decides to stand up and fight the bullies. I think also because it was such a popular thing to do at the time, they wanted to put it in.

reply

When the hell has it ever been popular to randomly bungee jump at a school dance lol
