A very underrated movie

I don't get the hate at all for this movie I think it's a very strong movie. Julie's actually tougher than karate kid 3 Daniel and she has an interesting story and isn't mesmerised by Myagi at first and with Myagi we get to see a different side to him. I think he did take on a parent role with Daniel but it was still more of a teacher role. This one I think he really took on being a father figure, teaching her right from wrong, training her, teaching her to dance, protecting her, buying things for her, giving the talk to the boyfriend.

To me the greatest scene is where he goes into her room before the prom and the look of pride on his face when he sees her and where she says "it's a shame you never had a daughter you'd have made an excellent father" that was such an emotional scene to me because we know myiagis history with his child. Then the scene after when she walks out and he's trying to hold back tears. To me that was pat morritas best work in the whole series.

Also the martial arts training was actually good this time it had a training montage where she was actually learning fighting skills and she'd destroy daniel in a fight.

Yeah the main villains weren't some super evil PTSD karate champion waste developer, or a nephew of the guy who pretty much owns Okinawa just simple high school bullies.

Also there's great humour. The bit where he goes to buy the dress and the woman who thinks it's for him "okay so what do you like" and Myagi looks at her confused and goes "oh I like everything but dress not for me" also the bit where she asks what kind of girl is she and he says "she has good spinning back kick but needs work on sword hand block" that just shows how he thinks he thinks in karate.

Also Myagi has good development which he hasn't had in any of the others at the start he didnt have a clue about how to look after a teenage girl but by the end he becomes a great parent figure to her,

So yeah it's not perfect but it's a nice family movie with a lovely story and I think it's a proper ending to the series not the whole crying on the floor do a kata and win ending in 3.

Rather than repeat someone else s post, allow me to provide a link to a post that raises questions about the total illogic of this movie.

Perhaps this will spotlight many of the problems. You can also argue your case there if you would like.
