Was Ralph Macchio considered for this one?

I always wondered... was Macchio offered a role in this one and rejected it or did they plan from the very beginning to cast someone else as main protagonist?
I realize a 10 year gap between the first movie and this one, but considering Macchio's slow aging, he still did not look too old to reprise his role once again. I know the title is "The Next Karate Kid", but that doesn't prove anything - they could've changed the title from "Karate Kid IV" to "The Next Karate Kid" after Macchio's decision. So, was Ralph ever meant to appear in this movie or not?

if you type "John G. Avildsen wanted daniel to die" you will find a "craveonline" interview where he explains how he wanted daniel to die in the end of the 3rd one and then Miyagi meets the girl in the the 4th one. So that would suggest they knew the 4th one was gonna be a girl before the 3rd one was even filmed. He also explains how he wanted daniel and miyagi to time travel to ancient china like they are doc and marty or something, its a good read look it up

I don't think it's appropriate to call someone in their early thirties (Macchio was born in 1961) "Kid," and the film makers must have felt the same way.

Daniel-San is, in fact, older than Sensei Terry Silver in KK 3.

Hollywood generally casts by the age that actors will pass for.
The overage bullies in the school in THIS movie were out of place and ridiculous to be considered "teenagers". The casting was way off base on this one.

There would be no reason why Daniel-San could no reprise a cameo role in the movie even though a new main character was to be introduced.

Even if they did have a cameo for Daniel, I wonder what he would be up to in his life.
