The bullies are actually funny and not intentionally cruel sadistic @ssholes unlike in most films set in high school like Donnie Darko or Charlie Bartlett or hell even Garbage Pail Kids.

They're played for comedy that's why. They're thick like Bulk and Skull in Power Rangers.
