The end takes place 5 years later and it's obvious that Nell has improved. Ok say present day now it's 11 years later, does anyone think Nell's vocab would be on par with ours? Would she be able to funcion alone in society like the rest of us?

Having worked extensively with MR/DD folks of varying degrees, I'd have to give a resounding 'yes'. Nell is much further along than a lot of DD people who *are* left to fend for themselves.
