thats why no awards were won and thats why it got a low rating. This movie is a pathetic attempt to make people "understand".
I have to agree.
In Britain we have a similar dialect spoken in pubs and clubs up and down the country called "Bollocks", although we have yet to make a film about it.
Well except lock, stock and other Guy Ritchie rubbish.
Come on Zjac! Pay your readers just a little more respect. What ABOUT the movie did you find "pathetic"? ...and "pathetic" in what way? Do you mean poorly acted? (I would strongly disagree). Did you mean poorly cast?)Again, disagree). Do you mean unbelievable story line (agree in some ways). What are you TRYING to say?
Why waste our time just flinging unaimed handfulls of gravel?

It is very seldom that I say that a movie is . When I do say it, i mean everything is poor. It was acted poorly. It was cast poorly. It was scored poorly, Written, directed, shot, edited. The story was empty, full of holes, and quite simply pathetic. If I don't like a movie, but it had some good aspects, I would have put that. I'm not some kind of idiot that doesn't know what he's talking about. My opinions are well thought out and formulated and I have reasons for them. Don't insult my intelligence. I'm just being as imaginative as this movie was.
Pardon me, but I think you need to be introduced to a new word, "opinion". Opinions vary from person to person; a film which may mean absolutely nothing to one person may mean the world to another. Personally I thought it was a very good film which evokes more than just the urge to pick up a shotgun, spurt out a one-liner and blow a guys brains out. If you look a little closer into films there are underlying feelings about them. Now you are entitled to your opinion about this film, however this does not make it, "The Worst Movie of ALL TIME".
Obviously it's my opinion. I said it. Anything I say is my opinion. If you liked it fine, I was simply presenting my opinion. And I never said I liked movies about shotguns and one-liners, so please don't assume that I do. And thank you, I know what underlying feelings are. Subtext. The real meaning. That's why I like film.
sharejodie foster resieved a nomination for this!!!!! in my class it shows the perfect "understanding" about a Feral and isolates child!!!!!! this is a good movie....i like trying to figure out what she is saying so far i am doing ok...

This really ISN'T the worst movie of "ALL TIME"... officially.
I don't know how the someone could state this in front of the world... I'd feel like a bit of an idiot if I did because of these simple facts:
1) I am not in the position to declare such things.
2) I must then, be BLIND or have some lack of knowledge about film to say that the way the film was edited, directed, written etc. is poor when there are ACTUAL BAD MOVIES out there which are literally the worst "of ALL TIME" and are given these titles because of the way in which they were made is of a poor standard/quality.
and
3) There is no evidence which would support my proclamation of "Nell" being "the worst movie of ALL TIME"
Ofcourse, we all have the right to an opinion, but try and make it a good, worthwhile, stable one when you have the chance to bring it forward otherwise you're going to look a little bit silly.

Seems like every movie board I visit someone makes this claim. There are surely worse movies than this. And this is actually good.

When your judging a film, the "Academy" shouldn't be taken into consideration. Is that how you decide what you like? You watch the awards shows?

I don't care if you agree with my opinon. But be adult enough to disagree and keep your mouth shut. "Dick of the year" doesn't get you very far in a professional world.
Although I don't agree with the original post, I'm a little disappointed in those who have replied mirroring my opinion. Personally, I'm always interested to hear disenting opinions, so jzac55, here is mine:
As a student of film (which admittedly does not necessarily make me a better or more qualified judge, but it has exposed me a great variety of film styles)I was impressed with the writing and the cinematography. The filming of the scenery and the camera movement and especially the lighting in my opinion, were excellent.
I thought the casting was great. The Nell character could not have been easy to potray believibly (no doubt some people think it wasn't, but I disagree) and Jodie Foster did a fabulous job. Liam Neeson was also great.
Anyhow, Thought I'd put in my two cents in a manner that doesn't try to insult, because I find the sort of pettiness that many people in this thread have resorted to frankly tiring and profitless. I thought Nell was a great film, certainly not flawless, but interesting and well made.

I have to agree with RennesanceWoman...ther OP just stated an opinion without anything to back it up...what was wrong with the cinematography? The lighting? the sound? the acting? you make a blanket statement and then are shocked when people disagree with you. Convince us what you didn't like. How would you have shot it? Directed it? cast it?
