Robert Downey's Australian accent...

was absolutely spot on. I've never heard an American do it so perfectly. Usually it sounds terrible.

I know rite n I think these r his get high yrs lololololol

reply

Huh? Not spot on at all. Just watching it now, and sometimes he sounds Kiwi, and at other times he sounds East London, but he *always* sounds like someone trying really hard to do an accent. It doesn't sound like a real person at any point.

But I agree, it's not an accent I've ever heard an American do well. Nor most Brits.

You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.

All I kept thinking was that they must've originally wanted Mel Gibson for the role, so they made RDJ into a Mel type. ;)

At any rate, he was remarkable as always. He's a gifted man.

I thought it was terrible. Half the time it sounded NZ and at other times it just sounded like someone who really tries hard to do an Australian accent. No one talks like that.

On the other hand, the Australian accent he did in Tropic Thunder was spot on.

reply

Haha, It's terrible. I was trying to figure out what accent he was trying to do..Australian? Nope.. Do people think we all talk like The Crocodile Hunter?

Is his character in the movie supposed to be Australian?

reply

It was definitely spot on

reply

It was definitely terrible. The only non-Aussie actor I've ever heard do a perfect Australian accent is Kate Winslet.

reply

Doing the groundwork for Kirk Lazarus. She'll be right mate!🐭

Ladies and gentlemen...Mr.Conway Twitty
