Which one is better - original or remake?

I want to see this movie, but I don't know which version.

As a rule original always better, but since it's the same director and he could improve everything that went wrong in the original, I wonder - which one is better? Are both exactly the same?

Some of it is exactly the same with different actors, but there are some parts that didn't make it over to the remake. While I like some things about the remake, primarily some of the cast, the original probably is better. The friendship of Martin and Jens/James is more fleshed out in the original, as is the whole storypoint of Jens seeming to be a little disturbed. Also, I think the identity of the killer is less obvious in the original. In the remake, that particular character seems a little too clearly "off."

Thanks, original it is.

I would have to also go with the original. To be honest the remake isn't terrible, its not great either, but I would say give it a shot just to say that you watched both.

I prefer the original, but then I'm horribly biased.. Since I'm Danish n' all. :P

Must admit the Americanized version made me want to vomit.

This movie reminds me of "The Vanishing." Really great movie, really horrible remake. Stick with the original.

Getting the original is a bit hard in America, unfortunately.

Original. As far as the story goes, the remake is quite faithful to the original. The differences become apparent when you look at the smaller details - it seems like they toned down a few scenes for the American version(the hooker gives a BJ in the restaurant in the original - in the remake she gives a HJ, etc). Also, the dialogue seems awkward in quite a few places in the remake(the bar fight, the dinner with the hooker). Probably should have hired an English speaking screenwriter to correct the dialogue issues.

I like the remake better. Better actors overall.
