80s/90s satire films vs 00s satire films

Why does it seem that the old satire films (Naked Gun, Airplane, Spy Hard etc.) are better than the modern satires (Scary Movie, Date Movie, Epic Movie, Meet the Spartans) etc?

Or is it just that only the good old satires get remembered and that there are a ton of sh-tty satire films that no one knows of?

They seem pretty much the same, I think the jokes in Airuplane etc are just more clever, although still ridiculous.

But now that I know, isn't there a way to change my future?
No, but try to look surprised.

The old satires definitely had more intelligent jokes, the new ones are just lame. Airplane and the Naked Gun series are much more humorous than the new crap put out by the studios.

There are several reasons. First of all, the older ones were a new brand of spoof films, so people hadn't seen anything like it before-it was fresh to them. Also, the topics spoofed were strong genres. Third, you had actors that knew how to do spoof films in the right way, like Leslie Nielsen and Lloyd Bridges. Finally, they didn't just go for gross out gags. Airplane! did have the gag about *beep* hitting the fan, but that was only one joke, unlike Scary Movie 4, which had urine jokes and mucus jokes up the yin-yang.

So that was the one with the "TriPod"? I only remember that and "Tom Cruise" going crazy at the end. But anyway, that franchise also started in the 90's, but I guess could be considered the latter for most of its duration *shrug*

The others are what I like to call the "Movie Movies". And the directors/etc? They've been called "Alka Seltzer" and "Deep Friedberg". It's all the main crew. Just pity the actors.

I think there has been at least one good spoof out there, and the aforementioned pair came up with Vampires Suck, which seemed to be recieved much better.

There's a slogan written here. 'Happiness Will Walk Away'...

There's an actual plot that throws in homages and spoofs of movies seemlessly along the way, as opposed to the lazy writing that just throw spoof scenes together in a loosely tied, irrelevant story that no one gives a crap about. Like a sketch comedy movie. For example, that scene in scary movie 2 where they start dribbling a basketball to spoof a commercial. It was just stupid, out of place, and mindless humor that easily dates itself and become pointless and unfunny quick.
