I made it almost 15 minutes into this stinker before I could stand no more (and I consider that heroic). Monotone dialogue with long pauses whilst smoking a lot and keeping the camera out of focus does not art make. Maybe there was some meat to this thing further in, but so far it was so bad it's just not worth finding out.

Perhaps you can e-mail Mr. Almereyda and tell him just what does make art, so he can be sure to make it next time. In the meantime, I found the film to be an amusing and affecting small-scale take on a tired and frequently overblown strain of storytelling, as are others in the Almereyda library -- whether it adheres to your (unstated) philosophy of art or not.
