Well the "in production" page still says 2009... so pretty sure this was abandoned.

It's been 8 years since the remake was announced. I think it's no longer going to happen, the remake has been snuffed. (Pun Intended)

What's so bad about a remake? It's not like this movie couldn't have been done better. Perhaps the remake can tighten up the last third of the movie
