Would any be able to recommend any similar movies to this. not necessarily other Australian films or a similar plot, but I suppose similar quality storytelling about outcasts.

A movie I would say is similar is Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion. It's American, and the plot is completely different but similar in that it's about outcasts from high school trying to show the world that they are better than how they were made to feel in high school.
