Don't get me wrong....I was quite young when this movie came out, and I loved it. Even today at 26 it's still has some entertainment value. I was just curious.
If the roles were reversed.......if it was girls trying to find a guy to get naked......the movie would have had a different feel completely! Why is that? It's such a double standard. She was just being a nice prostitute...if it was a guy, he would have just been a perverted sex offender.

I'm a 48 year old female, and I completely agree with you. I love this movie and think it's really cute. However, there would be something really creepy about 3 girls that age wanted to check out a guy.
I guess it's because the woman can be perceived as totally harmless (like she can't physically rape them or anything), and it would be the other way around with girls.
Look at "To Catch a Predator" on Dateline NBC for instance. You just can't have older guys and young girls hanging out. One the other hand, look at all the hot female teachers who hve been in trouble for having sex with their teenage male students. These ladies are getting arrested and are going to jail.
Could a movie be made like this in 2007 and be as funny? It's hard to say. I do see what you're saying. It is a double standard, but then it's just a movie. V doesn't have sex with the boys and has no intention of doing so.

I actually read that female teachers having sexual relatinships with students on average get less time than males.
Young boys want to see women naked...they want to have sex. To call it rape is ludicrous...you can't rape the willing. On the other hand...if a male teacher is sleeping with a teenage girl...he is using his position of power to take advantage of her. Men's brains are wired differently than womens. Men's genetic make-up is designed to conquer as many women as they can. Women don't have those urges that men have.

So a young girl never wants to have sex, and if her teacher has sex with her it is forced, there is no consent, and it is rape. But if a young boy wants to have sex, and if his teacher has sex with him it is not forced, there is consent, and it is not rape? I call that double standards. Given the right circumstances women can be guilty of rape as easily as men.

This is an interesting question, I'd never considered it. You probably are right that it'd be a completely different vibe if the roles were reversed. I'm not sure how many 12 year old girls are interested in seeing a naked man compared to a 12 year old boy seeing some boobies though. I'd say the latter is the bigger group by far.
You said it yourself, its a double standard and its quite typical of society today.. Women have always been favored when it comes to anything sexual, probably because men are seen as some kind of sexual deviants.

Whether it's nature, nurture, or societal misconception does not really matter (and is not something we could settle here anyway), because in general society believes that boys are interested in sex, and girls are interested in relationships.
It's the same reason that a male teacher sleeping with a female student is a seen as a monster abusing an innocent, and a male student sleeping with a female teacher is seen as lucky.
In both cases the adult usually has all the power, and it is a form of abuse. But in rare cases it could be a more balanced relationship, or even one where the juvenile actually has the power.

Well, double standards? Yes. There have to be double standards, because one thing is male and another female. And that is the beauty of the arrangement! If males and females were equal all the enchantment would disappear! The same rights before the law? OK, but keep safe the differences.
