It was Danny Glover making an uncredited cameo. The part where he and Mel Gibson looked at each other like they thought they knew each other was a joke pointing to them being in the Lethal Weapon movies together.

He also said "Man, Im getting too old for this sh*t" when running out to his horse. He uses that line a lot in the Lethal Weapon movies.

one of the best cameos of all time. It was so unexspected,
I laughed my *** off.

"If they had told me it was going to be fifteen years, would it have been easier to endure?"

If you look even closer during the movie you'll see another Lethal weapon regular passing by.. Namely Captain Murphy, played by Steve Kahan. He's the dealer on the boat at Maverick's table, before he enters the finale. I only saw a glimpse of the man and he doesn't have any lines whatsoever. But still I recognised him and looked him up in the Maverick credits, just to make sure. Funny how some of Richard Donner's favourite actors end up in the same movies time and time again.

Actually he does have one line and thats " If you levae those here, we will transfer your chips to the final table." I didnt recognize him under all the hair he has in the movie, but now that you mentioned him, I recognized the voice.

When I first saw it, if I recall correctly, Glover has his face covered with a handkerchief a la western robber. But even with that you can guess it's Glover given the voice, the build and the part of his face that's uncovered, I was already laughing because of that.

But the real magical moment of the cameo is when Gibson takes the handkerchief from him, the look at each other and you hear that wonderful Micheal Kamen & Eric Clapton score from Lethal Weapon, and they look at each other not as Maverick and Robber # 1, but as Riggs and Murtaugh, then they sort of nod off.

That has got to be one of the funniest moments ever, and such a unique one to, when it happened I was like "I don't think they are going to do it", and then bang, there it was. Very few films could do that and pulled it off without it being bad advertisement of previous work.

It's a great film moment, which is hardly ever mentioned, as Maverick itself, I wish the film would get more attention, cause it's really good.
